Ramadan
“Whomever fasts in Ramadan by believing in its virtue and expecting its reward from Allah, his past sins will be forgiven.” (Bukhârî, Savm, 6)
Ramadan Sharif is the ninth of the 12 months according to the lunar calendar, and Allah has commanded us to fast in this month.
O you who believe, decreed upon you is fasting as it was decreed upon those before you so that you may become righteous – (Al-Baqarah 183)
In addition, the night of Qadr, is when the Quran began to be revealed, is one night that is hidden in the last 10 days of this month. For this reason, it is extremely important for every Muslim to take advantage of the night of Qadr by fasting in the mornings and worshiping at night.
The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months. (Al-Qadr 3)
Every Ramadan, at all The United Mexican Muslims Association’s branches, Muqabala (people reciting the Qur’an to each other) is performed.
In this way, the Sunnah of reciting that the Prophet saw and Jibreel (AS) did is imitated, so a sacred ambiance is experienced. You may also contact our nearest branch to join us.
“Whomever embraces my sunnah at the time of the depravement of my ummah has the reward of a hundred martyrs.”
Fasting requires not only staying away from food but also avoiding all acts of sin. This will only be possible by spending time with good people in good places.
“A perfect and rewarding fast is to not only stop eating and drinking but, to refrain from all acts of useless words, leisure time, saying bad things and all the desires of the Nafs. The Prophet saw teaches us that if a person curses at you, acts ignorantly against you, belittles you; Say “Surely I am fasting!” and be patient! ” (Hakim, Müstadrak, I, 595)
The fasting person avoids eating and sexual intercourse between sun down to sunset and has Iftaar (Feast) as an act of worship when the sunsets. It is highly recommended to be together with other brothers and sisters during iftar and sahur/suhoor and to evaluate the month of Ramadan by living the integrity of the ummah. If possible, iftar and Sahoor meals should be offered to fasting people.
‘Whomever feeds a person breaking his/her fast will earn the same reward as him/her, without any rewards decreased from the fasting person’. (Tirmidhi, Savm 82)
The United Mexican Muslim Association invites all of our Muslim brothers and sisters to their iftar and sahoor events it organizes on behalf of it’s donors.
You can also sponsor an iftaar or sahoor to the students of Quran.
After our iftaar program, a sermon is given every day of relevant topics regarding Hadith, Fiqh and Tafseer in all of our branches. Every night Tarawih prayer is performed in congregation. We hope to spend these precious times with you, our brothers and sisters.
Sadaqah Al-Fitr
- Fitr alms is a Sadaqah that is Wajib to be given in the month of Ramadan Sharif. It is Wajib for every Muslim who has wealth other than his/her basic needs and more than the Nisab amount.
In Sadaqah Al-Fitr, the amount of nisab/quorum is NOT required to exceed 1 year from the acquisition of the property. Fitr sadaqah should be given before the time of Eid Prayer.
Say, “Indeed, my Lord extends provision for whom He wills of His servants and restricts [it] for him. But whatever things you spend [in His cause] – He will compensate it; and He is the best of providers.” (Surah Saba, 39)
The United Mexican Muslim Association delivers your Sadaqah Al-Fitr to the students of Quran on your behalf.

Zakat
The UMAM delivers your Zakat funds to the student’s of the Quran on your behalf. Amongst our students studying in MEXICO, specifically to our orphans and needy who are in financial difficulties, continue their educational life with the Zakat and charity of the generous people.
.
What is Zakat?
Zakat literally means abundance, enhancement, cleanliness and being pure. Zakat is an annual financial worship that an eligible Muslim gives to one of the eight classes determined by Allah, Zakat is one fortieth of their wealth year after year in order to abide with Allah’s command.
Establish prayer, give zakah, and whatever good you put forward for yourselves – you will find it with Allah. Indeed, Allah knows of what you do, is all Seeing. (al-Baqarah 110)
Who can I give my Zakat?
These eight classes are reported in the 60th verse of Surah of At-Tawbah:
- Zakah expenditures are only for the poor
- For the needy
- For those employed to collect [zakah]
- For bringing hearts together [for Islam]
- For freeing captives [or slaves]
- For those in debt
- For the cause of Allah
- For the [stranded] traveler – an obligation [imposed] by Allah . And Allah is Knowing and Wise.
It is not permissible to give Zakat to a person who owns the amount of Nisab. However, it is permissible to give Zakat to scholars and students who are studying the Quran and it’s teachings.
Our Prophet (s.a.w.); “Even if a person who is learning knowledge has 40 years’ of subsistence, it is permissible to give him Zakat.”
Zakah Amount
Zakat is one of the five pillars of Islam. It is fard (Obligatory) for a Muslim who is free, sound mind, pubescent and who has sufficient amounts of wealth to give Zakat. This nisab amount in Zakat corresponds to 80.18 grams of gold. Apart from his basic needs and debts, every Muslim who has 80.18 grams of gold, cash or income producing properties of this value performs the Zakat worship once a year.
A decrease in the amount of Nisab during the year does not prevent giving Zakat. It is sufficient for the amount of Nisab to be available at the beginning and end of the year. It is necessary to make the intention (niyyah) for Zakat. When making the intention to pay Zakah, the person must make it with their heart , It is NOT sufficient to say it soley with the tongue.
Qurbani
UMAM allows your Qurbanies to be sacrificed in clean environments according to Islamic procedures, deliver them to your home according to your preference or offer them to Quran students at our centers.
You can also donate your Nafilah, Wajib, Aqeeqah, Shifa and Shukr Qurbanies, to our association. You may also feed the Quran students at our centers.
The UMAM delivers your slaughtered animal to the student’s of the Quran on your behalf. Amongst our students studying in Mexico, specifically to our orphans and refugees who are in financial difficulties, continue their educational life with the Qurbani of the generous people.
Qurbani; It is the slaughter of animals available for sacrifice with the intention of worshiping for the sake of Allah.
Their meat will not reach Allah, nor will their blood, but what reaches Him is piety from you. Thus have We subjected them to you that you may glorify Allah for that [to] which He has guided you; and give good tidings to the doers of good.( Haj, verse 37)
The term “Qurbani” is derived from the Arabic word “to get closer” and is frequently performed as a worship that brings servants closer to Allah. Although Qurbanies are sacrificed in different occasions, they can basically be examined under 4 main headings.
Qurbani Protects Against Troubles
Wajib Qurbani
So pray to your Lord and sacrifice [to Him alone]. (Al-Kawthar, verse 2)
According to the Hijri Calendar, the 10th, 11th, 12th and 13th days of the Dhul Hijjah is Eid-ul Adha (The Feast of the Sacrifice). It is Wajib (Compulsory) for every Muslim who possess Nisab (minimum amount of wealth requiring them to pay Zakat) according to the Hanafi school of thought. The Qurbani that is sacrificed, is sacrificed for the person who slaughtered it, and it is hoped that with the first blood, all the sins of the owner of the Qurbani will be forgiven.
The animal to be sacrificed must be selected in accordance with Islamic rules. Since this subject requires expertise in animal knowledge, professional support must be obtained.
The animal should be taken to the place where it is to be slaughtered. The Islamic rules must be followed in the slaughtering process and the animal must be slaughtered by mentioning (Dhikr) the name of Allah without hurting the animal.
Qurbani meat should be divided into three parts; leaving the first part to the family as a nafaqah, consuming the second part at the feast with friends, and the last part as sadaqah to the poor.
One can distribute more than one piece or even the whole sacrifice to the poor.
Humankind (son of Adam) did not do anything more pleasant than shedding blood in the sight of Allah on the day of sacrificing. That sacrifice will come with horns, hair and nails on the day of judgment. Before the blood of the sacrifice falls to the ground, it is immediately accepted by God. For this reason, do not be disturbed because of the sacrifice you have cut, and your heart should be pleasant. ” (Ibn Maja, Edahi: 3 – Hadith)
The Qurbani must be slaughtered by Qurbani’s owner or a reliable Muslim person who recieved the Wakalah (Permission) from the Qurban’s owner.
The owner of the Qurbani can only benefit from the meat of the sacrifice. The owner CANNOT sell the sacrificial animal’s skin or horn.
